12 Months of Giveaways!!

Normally, I don’t like my birthday. Like, at all. I cry at least once, I feel awkward the whole day, and I’m just generally uncomfortable and want the day to end.

Why? I have no idea. I just have never loved it.

Until last year, when I finally decided to spend the day doing whatever the heck I wanted, and I actually enjoyed my birthday! In fact, I enjoyed it so much that I think  I might just continue enjoying it for years to come (groundbreaking, I know)!

One way I think I will do this is by hosting a giveaway on my birthday- because why should I have all the fun?! I wanna share the love! However, that’s not all.

RIP Billy Mays.

Since my birthday is on the 12th, and it’s at the beginning of the year, and there are 12 months in the year, I thought “what the heck? How about I do 12 FREAKIN’ MONTHS of giveaways?!?!”

So that, my friends, is what I am doing. Each month, on the 12th, I will be giving away something that I love- whether it be a product, a book, a coupon, etc., I just want to share the love with you! Are you as thrilled as I am? I have been giddy about this all week, but I wanted to wait until I was safely set up on the new site to post anything about it.

Enough chitchat, I’m sure you’re dying to know what I’m giving away, right? Right.

For January’s prize, I will be giving away…

The Chocolate Covered Katie Cookbook!

I know, I know. Contain yourselves.

I go back and forth between eating really healthy and eating like trash, but one thing has been constant for a few years, and that is the love I have for Chocolate Covered Katie. Her recipes are delicious, even to people who don’t care for health food. Take a look around her website- everything looks positively HEAVENLY. Bonus- all of her recipes are vegan, so this is truly a giveaway for everyone. I can’t say enough good things about her! (Katie, can we be best friends, please?)

Do some research on her site, and I think you’ll agree that this is a giveaway you won’t want to miss.

  1. Entries worth one (1) point each: ‘Like’ my Facebook page, follow me on Instagram.
  2. Entries worth three (3) points: subscribe to my blog via email, Blogger, etc.
  3. Entries worth five (5) points: Comment below and tell me your funniest cooking fail! Example: One time I tried adding plain yogurt to my macaroni and cheese in an effort to give it some tangy flavor… and I added vanilla yogurt by mistake. (true story. It was terrible.)

Once you have completed any or all of the following, leave a comment on this post telling me that you did and how many entries you completed. Be honest! ;^) Remember; the more entries you complete, the better your chances of winning, so make sure to complete them! (especially the cooking fails. I’m particularly excited about reading that one.)

Giveaway ends January 11th at 11:59 PM MST. Open to Legal Residents (13 years of age or older) of the US only. Winner will be selected at random and be notified by email. Winner will have 48 hours to respond before a new winner is selected. The product offered for the giveaway is free of charge, no purchase necessary. 1. So I have had many fails when it comes to cooking. But my best was when I didn’t read correctly when baking a box cake and I put all the batter in one circular tin instead of too. Went back to check on it and it was expanding and overflowing over the tin. I pulled it out and frantically starting spooning batter out of the middle into the sink. It was an ugly cake but it was delicious hahaha

  2. I mixed up cinnamon with paprika when I had a terrible cold (literally couldn’t smell anything) and was making homemade zucchini bread for family coming in town… I had my brother walk into the kitchen and question what the HECK was in the oven because it smelt strange.

  3. Happy Birthday Haeley!I hope you enjoy our day of birth. I think your website looks fantastic. Love the new look and am looking forward to reading your future postings. 🙂 I haven’t cooked all that recently, so I can’t recall any funny cooking fails. When I cook I usually like to experiment cook – sometimes it doesn’t turn out as tasty as one would hope. I like your page, follow on FB, email subscribed, … Happy 2017!

  4. All my fails involve mac n cheese! The funniest one though was trying to make easy mac and it caught fire in the microwave! I was so confused! But then I realized i forgot to put water in it. So yeah. Easy mac is not so easy.

  5. I don’t have many cooking fails(I honestly havent cooked very much- I think that’s a cooking fail itself! 😂 We’re working on that 🙌🏻) BUT, back in elementary school, my sister and I went over to a friends house & we decided to make Kool-aid. We got a big pitcher, poured the sugar flavoring in(red of course), and added the four or so cups of sugar, and then added the water. Sounds simple right? Well, turns out we didn’t use that beautiful white death Sugar, we used salt. SALT. FOUR CUPS OF SALT. My friend only tasted a sip and she instantly found out- but then it gets worse 😂 I totally decided to trick my sister into drinking a Huge drink of it by cleverly explaining that it still was good and was just a different kind of taste- a savory wonder ✨ and yeah. She took a massive drink. And it was not. Tasty. 🙅🏼 Trust me I know, because I was innocently curious and tried a sip. Heaping spoonfuls of salt water is nasty. Still imprinted with that taste. 😰 That’s my story, though I must admit I burn a lot of things(typically the utensils..) and can never manage to fully use any appliance the exact right way… 😄👍🏻

  6. Hi! Love this blog!! I found you through a FB group… 😏 Just followed your page and Instagram. So I guess 7 points?? Anyways. I made my husband a delicious birthday cake last year. I’m still not sure what I did wrong buuuut I tried sawing off the top rounded half and ended up tearing the whole thing apart. Then I tried frosting it and basically it all just fell apart Hahaha I have a picture of the lovely thing but idk how to post a picture here, but just trust that it was a biiiig fail.

    1. Thank you for the follow, Sam! I hope you like it here. :^) I did the SAME thing when I tried to make a birthday cake for my roommate! I ended up getting frustrated and just made cake balls. I actually sent a picture to the Ace of Cakes and he thought it was funny. Since then I’ve gotten better. Ha!

  7. My cooking fail was when I was in high school. There was a cute boy that I had a huge crush on coming to visit from out of state, and I had been bragging about my killer baking skills to him for MONTHS. Which were true, at my green age of 16. He came over to hang out with me as I tried a new cookie recipe (mistake #1, never show off with a NEW recipe). Some recipes call for butter, others for Crisco. This recipe called for Crisco. In a rookie mistake, I missed the part about melting said Crisco before adding to the mix (mistake #2). It ended up turning the dough into a lumpy, lard tasting mess. I tried microwaving the dough in an attempt to melt the Crisco to salvage it (mistake #3), but that only aggravated the situation by making it oily and goopy. I was mortified to have messed up a batch of cookies, all while having the audience of this adorable young man. I messed up cookies guys. COOKIES.

    1. Noooooooooo!!! Oh my heavens, I’m laughing so hard at this.
One time I tried to make cookies for my friends for Christmas, but I made them with honey instead of sugar. BIG mistake, they looked like dead bugs. (Don’t ask me how cookies can look like dead bugs. I don’t know)
I went to deliver them and one of my friends gave me some cookies in return, and they looked flawless. I’m talking royal icing, darling little cutout shapes, the whole nine. I almost took my cookies back from her and ran the other way!

  8. This is attempt #2 at commenting, so if you find attempt #1 in the ether, disregard the bit where I couldn’t figure out how to subscribe, cuz I figured it out! Yay me! I also did the Facebook and Instagram ones!
As for cooking mishaps, I’m sure Tanner has regaled you with stories of my kitchen snafus, from boiling brownies to quadrupling a bread recipe causing it to rise so high it stuck to the upper cabinets. Needless to say, I have had my fair share of hilarious kitchen mishaps!
