The perfect attendance story

Last year at the awards assembly in 8th grade, I decided to try for perfect attendance. So this year, I did.
And, although it sounds like a dumb award, it was one of the hardest things I’ve done.
No kidding.
First of all, don’t get sick.
Second, RUN TO ALL YOUR CLASSES.
Third, make sure you never get signed out.
And for heaven’s sake, do NOT be absent.
All
Year
Long.
So finally, the awards ceremony arrived, and I endured a very long, very boring three hours of pointless sitting. At last…
The perfect attendance awards. I squeal and sit on the edge of my seat, awaiting my name to be called.
28 names are called…
And I do not get called up.
I’m crushed, totally and completely crushed. Everyone else seemed to do it so effortlessly, and I fussed over it for a year- and what do I have to show for it? A stupid, big fat bowl of steaming NOTHING. I held in the tears, and on the way home, my friend Ryan decided to call the front desk to correct the situation. I could have given him a high five, I was so overjoyed. (kissing is awkward) He passed the phone to me, and they said they’d check. Then they called me back and said I’d gotten a tardy on November 16th in Mrs. Patch’s class.
That was for YEARBOOK! I told the story to them perfectly (because I knew every detail of that)- I was tardy, but it was excused for yearbook to take a Seussical picture.
They called me back today, and Mrs. Patch couldn’t recall, but said I was a girl to be trusted, so I GOT MY PERFECT ATTENDANCE AFTER ALL!!! Honesty pays off, folks. In addition to an awesome certificate, I got $25!! So now I will be taking Julia and Ryan to Jamba Juice to celebrate!

Swoon-worthy vintage wedding dresses!

One of my goals in life is to be married in a vintage wedding gown, so I went searching for some pictures (no, I am not engaged) to humor myself. Aren’t they G-O-R-G-E-O-U-S?

 Favorite right there ^
 Princess dress right there^

My Nana wore something like this for her first wedding. She looked beautiful!
Those tiers are just plain amazing.

Le sigh! These are the prettiest dresses. Although some of them are sleeveless, I could easily cover them up in a lovely shawl or something. But it sure is nice to dream of wearing one of these treasures, no? Which one has YOU swooning?

Memorial day music

In our home, it is a tradition on Memorial Day to visit the graves of our relatives who have served in wars, and we place flags on their graves. While in the car on their graves, we also play a patriotic CD. Always. Up until now, probably, this has never failed to annoy me, and I’ve had a bad attitude about it. This year was going to be no exception, but this time I left behind the bad attitude and the headphones and tried to enjoy this time. And you know what?
I did.
Especially the CD’s, amazingly enough. I actually looked forward to listening to the patriotic music, and was sad when we couldn’t find our normal CD. Times, they are a-changing, and I think this time it’s for the better.

Chapter 234: The part where I am relieved.

I’ve been reading some blogs lately, and most of them talk about the end of the school year, and how they’re super-sad about it all ending, yadda yadda yadda. But me? I am SO happy it’s all come to an end! I have hated being labeled as a freshman. As in, really, truly hated. On the brink of LOATHING BEING A FRESHMAN. Why? Allow me to illustrate for you my feelings.
…Okay. Never mind. My computer is being completely retarded right at the present, so I will NOT be illustrating my feelings to you.
What. Ever. Later, I promise, loves!
