Adventures in babysitting…

Last night I got to babysit two adorable little girls as their first babysitter outside of the family! I’m so lucky. :^)
Anyway, to spare you the boring details (it was a delightfully uneventful night), I’ll just highlight two fun things that happened that evening.
The minute I walked in, I was cheerfully greeted by one little redhead (the elder rode in the car with me). I was fully expecting total shyness or maybe a wail of anguish, but instead, I got a huge knee-hug! I was shocked, but I would take this over anything.
After I had put the baby to bed, the oldest little girl (who is three) and I were playing a memory game when she looked up at me and said,
“You don’t look how I thought you would.”
“Oh, really? What did you think I would look like?” I asked, expecting a hair color description, eye color, etc.
“Well, I thought you’d be pretty,” she stated simply. Choking back a giggle, I replied,
“Oh yeah? How do you think I look instead?”
“Um… Ya look kinda funny… But… It’s okay,” She reassured me. I’m just glad that my humorous appearance didn’t frighten her. I love babysitting!! :^)

Well, gorsh!

My lovely little mommy dear gave me an award on her lovely little blog, along with a lovely little tag! So here are the ten questions, along with my lovely little answers.

1. Why did you create your blog?
Well, my mom had one, and I figured I was of age, and I wanted to have a special place for my random thoughts and life moments.

2. What kind of blogs do you follow?
I like to follow any kind of blog that catches my fancy, particularly photography blogs, a fashion blog, and whatever else I happen upon that isn’t awfully boring.

3. Favorite brand of makeup?
I haven’t tried out many different brands, but I like N.Y.C (New York Color), Almay, Maybelline, and I really love Xango’s mineral foundation.

4. Favorite brand of clothing?
Um, I don’t wear just one brand. I kinda dabble in whatever is affordable and cute. :^)

5. Indispensable item of makeup?
Well, I’d probably choose mascara, because I have longish lashes, but the tips are blond, so I like the definition. Plus, it seems like as long as you’re wearing mascara, the rest of your face pulls together.

6. Favorite color?
Hot pink. All the way.

7. Favorite perfume?
I love, love, love Coconut Lime Verbena from B&BW. It’s so fresh and light and summery, and since I’m a forever summer kind of girl, this suits me perfectly.

8. Favorite movie?
Oh heck. I can’t choose, but I’m a sucker for anything romantic. As long as it’s not revolting.

9. What country would you like to visit?
Well, I’ve always thought of England, but now I’d really like to go to… Um, can I get back to this later?

10. Would you rather forget to put mascara on one eye or forget blush on one side?
I would go with forgetting blush. No mascara on one side would be too noticeable! And I have sort of a natural blush, so it wouldn’t be so dramatic.

Here are the rules:
1. Thank and link back to the person who gave you the award
2. Answer 10 questions
3. Pass it along to 7 blogs you’ve recently discovered and enjoy
4. Leave your recipients a note, telling them about the award.
7 blogs I’m tagging are as follows, and I quote:

  1. Acetress of cakes
  2. Vanilla
  3. littleblondie208
  4. KaraLyn
  5. Kirsi Anne
  6. Lisa
  7. Annie
This was totally random. If you don’t check this out and do the tag, I won’t do anything rash. But being tagged is fun, no? Thanks, Mommy!

Dude.

Have you ever had one of those moments where you’re thinking about nothing in particular, and all of the sudden you’re just stopped by this one thought:

Dude.”
I’m not talking about a blond, muscular boy on a surfboard, I’m talking about where you are simply shocked by where you’ve been, and what is happening. Take last night, for example. I was in bed, thinking about Jekyll and Hyde, and all the sudden I went
“Dude”.
I thought about how awesome it was to be in such a unique play, and then I was amazed at my being cast in the role I was. Sometimes I feel so inadequate to be in this place, with so many people who have been in so many other AYT productions, and I’m just a simple newbie. But I plan on being in more shows there, and this is a great beginning for me. Have you heard about Les Miserables? Auditions are this May!! Eek!!!!!!!

Be mine?

Aren’t those cute? Sigh… I wish they still made cards like that, rather than the Hotwheels and Barbie cards that all say the same thing; “You’re a blast, Valentine!” “Have a blastin’ Valentine’s day!”, stuff like that. I wish we could go back to the days where ‘puppy love’ was innocent and sweet, people didn’t make out at every corner, and boys actually asked girls to dance- and when they did, they would actually dance. Wouldn’t that be a great way to spend Valentine’s day? I think so. Old-fashioned romance is so sweet and charming and clean. Can we go back to those days this Valentine’s day? Please?
